Benefits for caregiver or parent giving the massage

"The art of baby massage teaches parents how to give and receive nurturing"

Dr. Tiffany Field PhD.

Benefits are:

  • Bonding
  • Relaxation - helps parents unwind and relax, promotes release of nurturing hormones
  • Communication
  • Confidence - helps parents feel more confident and competent about caring for their child and to meet baby's needs… to follow their intuition
  • Fun

There is a lot of information and research that states the importance and benefits of massage for the baby or infant receiving a massage, but there are also benefits to the parent or caregiver giving the massage. For example, a parent who may be at their wits end, having a new baby to care for, may find massage helpful for relaxation and to assist them in feeling more confident. Massage releases serotonin and oxytocin (feel good natural body chemicals) and reduces cortisone which helps reduce stress levels.
